Gemotions

The ferry sliced through the calm water, leaving a frothy wake in its path. Liam leaned against the railing, the salt-laced breeze ruffling his hair. He'd bought a battered copy of "Moby Dick" from a roadside stall. The sea air invigorated him, and a sense of wellbeing filled him.

He flipped through the pages, the spine cracking with a satisfying sound. As he neared Chapter 20, something shifted. A folded letter, tucked between the pages, fell into his lap. He caught it, observing its aged look, the handwriting a complete mystery. He felt no urge to immediately read it; the unfolding would come when it came.
